A contemnor imprisoned for a fixed term for contempt may be discharged before expiry of the term under SCR Pt 55 r 14 where changed circumstances are demonstrated, including compliance with the orders breached, acknowledgment of the seriousness of the contempt, and genuine contrition. The procedure is not available to challenge the severity of the original sentence.
