The court's inherent jurisdiction permits an order requiring the issuing party of a subpoena to provide advance security for the recipient's reasonable costs of compliance, notwithstanding that UCPR r 33.11 on its face addresses costs after compliance. The court must balance the subpoena recipient's assurance of receiving reasonable costs against the issuing party's entitlement to use court processes. The court is not bound to accept the recipient's cost estimate and may fix a lower amount.
