Inconsistencies between a child complainant's initial disclosures to parents and police and later formal interview evidence do not necessarily render a guilty verdict unreasonable, where the complainant provides a plausible explanation for the discrepancies (such as embarrassment at disclosing in front of a parent). Shortcomings in a police investigation that are raised before the jury as part of the defence case do not, without more, establish unfairness amounting to a miscarriage of justice.
