When a sentencing court imposes a single penalty under s 18A of the Criminal Law (Sentencing) Act 1988 (SA) and differential guilty plea discounts apply under s 10C, the court must identify and disclose separate notional starting points and separate discounts for each offence. The 'safety of the community' policy in s 10(2)(a) is directed primarily at offences involving danger to the person rather than property offences such as theft.
