A total effective sentence of 5 years' imprisonment for a course of domestic violence offending comprising burglary, unlawful damage, threat to harm (threatening to set the victim alight), and aggravated stalking over two periods does not infringe either limb of the totality principle. Accumulation of sentences for distinct offences committed with the same objective to intimidate is appropriate where the offending involves a high level of criminality and general deterrence is required.
