UCPR r 51.50(2A) provides power to dismiss proceedings for non-compliance with a security for costs order made under r 51.50(1), even where the party is formally an applicant for an extension of time to appeal rather than an 'appellant' as defined in r 51.2. Alternatively, the Court's inherent jurisdiction provides such power. The Idoport factors remain the applicable framework for exercising the discretion to dismiss.
