A finding of readiness to supply cannabis does not contravene the De Simoni principle where the supply offence under s 23(2) carries the same maximum penalty as the cultivation offence charged. The Bugmy principles concerning childhood deprivation do not apply to mitigate deliberate, planned cannabis cultivation merely because the offender's parents used and cultivated cannabis during the offender's childhood, particularly where the offender demonstrated capacity to function independently and control drug use.
