An increased susceptibility to vagal inhibition or cardiac arrest caused by voluntary consumption of methylamphetamine does not fall within the s 23(1A) Criminal Code (Qld) proviso removing the accident defence. Where evidence is cross-admissible on all counts and offences arise from one continuous course of conduct, the substance of a separate consideration of charges direction may be adequately conveyed through the structure and content of the summing-up without the standard form direction being given.
