A mere offer to provide a statement under s 13A of the Penalties and Sentences Act 1992 (Qld), made relatively late and producing no actual assistance, does not require a sentencing discount. The parity principle does not require equal sentences where the instigator of group violence is a mature person with a criminal history and the co-offender is a young person with no history who acted under duress.
