Where an offender's full and frank admissions provide the only evidence of guilt, a discount of between 30 and 50 per cent on relevant charges is appropriate. This discount operates independently of and in addition to the discount for a guilty plea. For serious armed robberies involving firearms, where the offender is youthful with no prior convictions, has good rehabilitation prospects, cooperated with police, and made admissions without which charges could not have been laid, sentences in the range of 3 to 3.5 years per offence (with a total effective sentence of 7 years for multiple offences) are within range.
