Characterisation of an offender's role as a 'crop sitter' in a cannabis cultivation enterprise does not of itself displace the need to assess the overall circumstances of the offending, including the scale of the operation, the quantity of drugs, and the need for general deterrence. A sentence of 3 years and 3 months' imprisonment (with 2-year NPP) for cultivating 307 cannabis plants (77.87 kg) as a crop sitter over two and a half months was upheld as not manifestly excessive against a maximum of 25 years.
