A trial judge's general references to 'threats' in jury directions on duress need not specifically identify that threats to a third party (such as the accused's child) are capable of amounting to duress, where the entire focus of the defence case was on such threats and nothing said at trial suggested otherwise. The adequacy of directions is assessed in the context of the trial as a whole.
