A plaintiff alleging inadequate lighting as a basis for occupier's liability must adduce some evidence from which an appropriate lighting standard can be deduced with particularity; the mere fact that lighting was poor is insufficient. The foreseeability of an accident and the possibility of its prevention do not mandate a conclusion of negligence; the plaintiff must establish what precautions a reasonable occupier would have taken in response to the risk.
