A general endorsement on a County Court writ must identify the causes of action against each defendant, provide details by reference to dates and subject matter of the claims, and specify the relief sought — a bare statement of statutory provisions allegedly breached, without particulars, does not comply with r 5.04. Compliance is assessed from the face of the endorsement alone; the defendant's actual knowledge of the claims is irrelevant. Commencing proceedings in the County Court on a matter already remitted to VCAT constitutes an abuse of process.
