A total effective sentence of seven years' imprisonment (non-parole period of four years) for 22 child pornography and child abuse material offences committed over two and a half years involving 26 victims, with 15 further offences taken into account, was within the range of reasonable sentencing discretion. There is an element of artificiality in challenging individual sentences within a cascading sentence structure, though it remains open to an applicant to do so.
