A sentencing judge who makes a significant finding of special circumstances not based solely on the fact of accumulation must either carry that finding into effect in the overall effective sentence after accumulation, or give an explanation for why the degree of amelioration was modified. The mere fact that the statutory ratio is still below 75% after accumulation is insufficient. Separately, a sentencing judge is not required to address each of the five De La Rosa principles individually; it suffices that the sentencing remarks demonstrate awareness of the offender's disabilities and competing concerns.
