A sentencing judge who foreshadows to defence counsel an intention to depart from a previously indicated guilty plea discount, and receives no contrary submission, does not deny the offender procedural fairness. A discount of 20% for a guilty plea entered the day after the trial date is generous; the usual range for such late pleas is 10-15%.
