A partly suspended term of imprisonment under the Sentencing Act 1995 (WA) is imposed solely under Part 11, not partly under Part 11 and partly under Part 13. Consequently, there is no power to backdate the commencement of a partly suspended sentence under s 87, and no power to make a parole eligibility order under s 89. The suspension period of a partly suspended sentence begins when the immediate component expires, not on the date of sentencing. The power to partly suspend imprisonment does not extend to conditional suspended imprisonment under Part 12.
