When assessing whether a cumulative sentence imposed under s 156A of the Penalties and Sentences Act 1992 (Qld) is manifestly excessive, the severity of the new sentence should not be assessed by treating it and the balance of earlier sentences as if they were one combined sentence. A parole eligibility date set at 25% of the new sentence is not manifestly excessive where the offender has repeatedly breached parole.
