The Court held that the power to 'detain and search' a vehicle under s 52(9)(b) of the Controlled Substances Act 1984 (SA) permits police to remove the vehicle to another location and detain it for a reasonably sufficient period to enable a thorough search, including where specialist assistance is required, and is not confined to the location at which the vehicle is stopped.
