The characterisation of the particular type of murder (intentional vs reckless, premeditated vs spontaneous) is not of itself determinative of objective gravity for sentencing purposes. A sentencing judge's assessment of witness credibility on a contested plea is quintessentially within the judge's remit and will not be disturbed on appeal where the reasons are rational and compelling.
