The definition of 'procure' in s 218A(10) of the Criminal Code (Qld) — 'knowingly entice or recruit for the purposes of sexual exploitation' — should not be constrained by requiring positive action as opposed to passive agreement, nor by requiring that the child would not have engaged voluntarily. The meaning of 'procure' in one section of the Criminal Code should not be assumed to be transposable to another section, particularly where different sections contain different specific definitions or no definition at all. The offence under s 218A is complete upon use of electronic communication with the requisite intent, even where the communication is with a third party rather than the child directly.
