A sentence of 4 years' imprisonment with a 2-year non-parole period for predatory sexual offending against a 14-year-old child, including sexual penetration, production of child abuse material, and possession of a large quantity of child abuse material, was held not to be manifestly inadequate where the sentencing judge had regard to the offender's youth, early guilty plea, absence of prior convictions, community contributions, and the impact of COVID-19 on custodial conditions, notwithstanding high moral culpability and a moderate to high risk of reoffending.
