A sentencing judge is not required to address in greater detail the relevance of an offender's mental disorders to moral culpability and objective seriousness where those matters were either not put or were put only by implication from references to authority in the offender's submissions. Reasons for sentence should be read as a whole and in light of the submissions actually made. The practice of retaining experts to provide supplementary reports on appeal to elaborate on reports tendered at sentence continues to be deprecated.
