A sentencing judge's express statement that a significant discount was given for a guilty plea during the COVID-19 pandemic will not be disturbed on appeal where the objective seriousness of the offending, criminal history and poor rehabilitation prospects justified the sentence imposed. A non-parole period of 50 per cent of the head sentence is well below the usual range of 60 to 75 per cent and is comfortably within range.
