Keeping petrol in a shed on a farm (or in a suburban shed or garage) is an ordinary and unremarkable practice that does not constitute a 'special danger' sufficient to displace the general rule against liability for deliberate criminal conduct by a third party. The foreseeability of fire risk from stored fuel does not, without more, impose on an occupier a duty to prevent a guest from deliberately setting fire to another person's clothing. The scope of an occupier's duty of care does not extend to preventing deliberate criminal acts by guests, even where the occupier has brought fuel onto the property and guests are intoxicated.
