A professional disciplinary tribunal is not precluded from hearing and determining a matter concerning a registered professional before the conclusion of criminal proceedings against that person. Ziems v The Prothonotary does not establish any such preclusion. An applicant seeking an extension of time to commence judicial review or tribunal review proceedings must provide an adequate explanation for the delay and demonstrate that the substantive case has real prospects of success.
