A trial judge's timely and appropriate direction to the jury regarding a potentially prejudicial courtroom incident will ordinarily be sufficient to cure any prejudice, and the matters raised by trial counsel at the time are a more reliable barometer of potential prejudice than matters raised for the first time on appeal.
