Trial judges must ensure that when giving directions on tendency evidence, they specifically direct the jury not to use the evidence for any purpose other than the identified permissible purpose and not to decide the case based on prejudice arising from the evidence — general directions on bias and prejudice are insufficient to comply with s 27 of the Jury Directions Act 2015.
