Context evidence of uncharged domestic violence may be led in sufficient detail to avoid appearing artificial or glib, and a defence forensic decision not to seek edits to recorded evidence — particularly where motivated by the perceived advantage of attacking the complainant's credibility through inconsistencies in the detail — will preclude a complaint on appeal about excessive detail. A prosecutor may permissibly remind the jury of independent support for both charged and uncharged evidence, provided the trial judge directs that independent evidence supporting context evidence cannot be used to support the charged offences.
