In drug importation cases under the Criminal Code (Cth), a jury direction on intention to import a substance must convey not only that the accused was aware of a real and significant chance that the consignment contained a substance, but also that the accused nevertheless persisted with the conduct notwithstanding that awareness; and the jury must be satisfied beyond reasonable doubt of each of the facts and circumstances from which the inference of intent is drawn.
