Where uncharged acts evidence is admissible as propensity evidence and its only possible relevance is to establish sexual interest, a trial judge's propensity direction is appropriate even if the prosecution did not expressly articulate propensity reasoning in its opening or closing address, provided defence counsel is given notice and an opportunity to object.
