The Court renewed a three-year supervision order under s22(1) of the Serious Offenders Act 2018, finding on the basis of unchallenged expert evidence that the respondent posed a moderate to high risk of committing a serious sexual offence constituting an unacceptable risk under s14(1). A non-publication order was made under s279 prohibiting publication of the respondent's identity and location, on the basis that publication would adversely affect rehabilitation, increase the risk of reoffending, and would not meaningfully assist potential victims in avoiding harm. The Court also ordered judicial oversight of the respondent's residential transition process via a directions hearing in six months, finding this could aid community protection by managing the respondent's frustration and the practical difficulties in identifying suitable accommodation.
