A magistrate's reasons for finding guilt must disclose an intelligible path of reasoning from the evidence to the findings and from the findings to the ultimate conclusion, and missing steps cannot be supplied by implication where the prosecution has not squarely challenged the defendant's evidence on the relevant points.
