Where the prosecution relies on alternative bases of criminal liability under ss 7(1)(c) and 8 of the Criminal Code (Qld), jury unanimity under s 59 of the Jury Act 1995 (Qld) does not require all jurors to agree on which section applies, provided the alternate bases do not involve materially different issues or consequences. A conclusion of guilt under s 7(1)(c) necessarily subsumes the findings required for guilt under s 8. Section 12(2) of the Criminal Code (Qld) applies where a single connected course of conduct commences in Queensland and concludes interstate, even if the immediate cause of death may have occurred outside Queensland.
