For four counts of rape of an adopted daughter committed between ages 13 and 16, with a late guilty plea, a head sentence of 10 years imprisonment is within range where comparable cases involving similar or worse offending attracted sentences of 8-11 years. A sentence of 12 years was beyond the range. The sentencing judge is not entitled to increase sentence by reason of uncharged offences, following D [1996] 1 Qd R 363.
