For offences of armed robbery with wounding under s 98 of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW), where the offender has an extensive criminal history and multiple Form 1 matters including further armed robberies, a total effective sentence of 16 years (minimum term 12 years) is within the appropriate range. Subjective circumstances including substance abuse, depression, and a troubled background do not reduce the sentence where the objective seriousness is very high.
