Serious offences on a Form 1 must be given proper weight in the sentence for the count to which they are attached; they cannot be merely noted in passing. Where an offender has committed a sustained course of armed robbery, wholly concurrent sentences may fail to reflect the total criminality and constitute error of law. The principle of totality does not justify reducing sentences to a point where there is no practical distinction between committing one offence and committing many.
