The existence of a disparity in sentences between co-offenders does not alone justify appellate intervention; the disparity must be such that the sentence under appeal cannot stand without it appearing that justice has not been done. Significant assistance to authorities by a co-offender can take that co-offender's sentencing out of the category where parity is required. Courts should ensure co-offenders in the same criminal enterprise are sentenced by the same judge wherever possible.
