Where an essential term of a lease agreement (here, the Estimated Final Value) is left blank in the schedule, the court will not supply the missing term, and the lessor's claim for amounts calculated by reference to that term will fail. The omission of a figure may be treated as equivalent to 'nil' for the purposes of calculating obligations under the contract. A court will not uphold the validity of an agreement where to do so would require spelling out to an unacceptable extent what the parties themselves failed to agree.
