The Queensland Court of Appeal held that an order requiring attendance at a compulsory conference under s 293 of the WorkCover Queensland Act 1996 is not a final judgment for the purposes of s 118(2) of the District Courts Act 1967, and therefore cannot be appealed as of right. Without leave to appeal, there was no decision 'subject to an appeal' within the meaning of UCPR r 761(2), and the Court had no jurisdiction to grant a stay.
