Under a property insurance policy providing indemnity for damage to a building, the measure of indemnity is the diminution in value of the land and building together, not the value of the building viewed as a separate item of property. Where the insured peril (storm damage causing collapse) actually increases the overall property value, there is nothing to indemnify. However, a debris removal endorsement provides indemnity specifically against the costs of removal of debris actually incurred, and does not require proof of overall diminution in the insured's position.
