The Queensland Court of Appeal dismissed the Attorney-General's appeal against sentence, holding that the sentencing judge had not erred in the weight given to the totality principle when sentencing an offender who committed offences while on parole. The Court affirmed that a sentencing judge must consider all sentencing options open, including the effect of parole cancellation, in arriving at a sentence that is 'just', and that the totality principle may warrant moderation of individual sentences where the offender faces additional consequences from breach of parole under the Corrective Services Act 2000 (Qld).
