A total effective sentence of 13 years with an 11-year non-parole period for a serial sexual offender with 62 prior convictions (including multiple rapes and indecent assaults with similar circumstances) convicted of indecent assault and three counts of rape committed in the victim's home at knifepoint was manifestly inadequate. The Crown is not precluded from arguing cumulation on appeal merely because the Crown Prosecutor did not submit on cumulation at first instance, where the defence submissions would not have been understood as an argument against cumulation.
