The parity principle does not require an adult offender's sentence to be reduced merely because a co-offender was sentenced under the Juvenile Justice Act 1992 (Qld); the different sentencing regimes necessarily imply differential treatment. A head sentence of 4 years imprisonment with recommendation for post-prison community-based release after 15 months is within range for a young adult offender (aged 17-18 at offending, 19 at sentence) convicted of two armed robberies in company and one attempted armed robbery committed over a 15-month period involving weapons.
