Sentencing judges must not impose artificially inadequate individual sentences on multiple serious offences and then cumulate them to reach a desired total; the proper approach stated in Grabovac requires appropriate individual sentences with concurrency preferred over cumulation of reduced sentences. Individual sentences of months for incest offences carrying a 25-year maximum, involving a grandfather and a three-year-old victim, are manifestly inadequate.
