Discounts for assistance to authorities of up to and beyond 50% are not reserved for offenders who give evidence at trial. Offenders who provide practical undercover assistance at significant personal risk are entitled to equal consideration. A combined global discount of 60% was appropriate where the offender entered an early guilty plea and provided a high degree of assistance to police leading to the arrest of major drug trafficking targets.
