The repeal of s 16G of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth) does not warrant a broad arithmetical uplift of approximately 50 percent to pre-repeal sentencing patterns; the proper approach remains to apply s 16A(1). An offender who agrees to act as a 'post box' for drug importation, receiving packages for onward distribution, is placed in the relatively lower range of the drug importation hierarchy. For traffickable quantities of MDMA, a sentence towards the lower end of the applicable range is appropriate where the offender is low in the hierarchy, pleads guilty early, and has favourable subjective circumstances.
