A juror's authorship of a book about their jury experience does not, without more, give rise to a reasonable apprehension of bias sufficient to warrant examination of the juror on appeal. The inference that a guilty verdict was a precondition to publication does not logically follow from the fact of authorship. Even assuming a contravention of s 68B of the Jury Act 1977 (NSW), such a contravention does not provide a basis for examining the juror about jury deliberations.
