A sentence of periodic detention for supply of approximately 200 grams of cocaine is manifestly inadequate. The 25 per cent discount for a plea of guilty is not available as of right merely because the plea was entered at the earliest opportunity after a charge reduction; the discount must reflect the actual utilitarian benefit to the criminal justice system. Where adhering to parity with a co-offender would result in a manifestly inadequate sentence, the Court may depart from parity.
